The ALPS
The Aslie Laminar Plating System (ALPS) instrumentation achieves rigid fixation without vertebral penetration through its three-point attachment to the back of the lamina and is therefore capable of compression, distraction, derotation, and reduction of the vertebra. It also utilizes two advanced polyethylene composite straps and a roughened undersurface for reliable grip. Significantly, there is no need for the surgeon to resort to fluoroscopy or navigation because all of the system’s metal components are always visible. The design of the ALPS is so efficient that it is no taller than a simple hook.

In addition to greatly assisting the surgeon, the ALPS ensures the safety of the patient. For example, the stretch-resistant straps are rated to withstand over 150 pounds and avoid pressure points in order to minimize bone failure. The ALPS reduces the risk of hardware failure because it attaches to the lamina, the strongest part of the vertebra.
